AI Summarizer

Condensing lengthy information to something easily readable and understandable is a very efficient learning method. You quickly get the gist of research material to write something of your own or form an educated viewpoint on a given topic.

However, summarizing information is a very difficult task. First, you need to get to the root of the context. Then, you’ll need to decipher a bunch of facts and figures and highlight key points, finally putting them together for an effective, condensed piece.

But, today, we don’t need to do all these steps manually. Instead, we have automated tools like the AI summarizer to complete this process in seconds thanks to the advanced NLP algorithms. Want to know more about this tool? Keep reading this article till the end.

What is an AI Summarizer?

AI Summarizer is a free-to-use online tool with a simplistic UI that works without requiring any sign-ups. It was initially created for educational purposes to help students decipher lengthy, difficult research articles into short words so that they can easily write their thesis or assignments.

Why is Everyone Talking About It?

As time passed, the developers of the tool added more functionality to it, like choosing a customized length of the summary, making bullet points, or selecting the best line from the entire text.

These feahttps://www.pinterest.com/aisummarizer/tures encouraged other types of users like business professionals, digital marketers, etc., to also try the tool for their use cases. Soon enough, the popularity of the tool started rising, resulting in the brand that it is today.

Is the AI Summarizer Any Good?

Before we proceed with this portion, I just want to clarify one thing: I was not paid or compensated in any way by the brand for this review. What you’ll read below are my pure thoughts about the AI Summarizer after hours of testing it on various types of documents.

In short, yes, the AI summarizer is good enough for a majority of tasks like quickly extracting key points from a peer-reviewed article, business report, etc. However, I did find it lacking in some areas.

First Impression

When you first arrive at the tool, it looks like it was made for amateurs. The user interface is simplistic, which is not a bad thing in particular. But, it may disappoint some senior-level users as they’d want more freedom with editing their summaries – in short, more AI.

Many competitors like the QuillBot summarizer provide an option to the user to generate customized outputs based on prompts. For example, “generate a summary for a thesis”, “make the summary-tone academic,” etc.

However, Quillbot offers these features in its premium version – something to be considered while comparing it with the free-to-use AI summarizer.

Using the Tool

As we dive deep into the AI summarizer, we discover that the tool’s functionality is indeed quite good.

Test 1:

The first test I conducted on it was summarizing a book called “1984” by George Orwell.

Summarizing the entire book wasn’t possible as the free version only allows us to input 3000 words at a time (which is a lot, by the way!) So, I just picked the first 10 pages of the book and summarized them to check the tool’s output on default settings.

Impressive! The tool does convey every detail quite eloquently. The words are easy to read and understand, fulfilling the objective of summarizing a text.

In addition to this, I also have the option to rephrase some sentences if I don’t like the way they’re delivered. So, all in all, I am quite satisfied with this output.

Test 2:

Then, I tried a sports article from Olympics.com about Linda Caicedo: why the Colombian football star is made for the world stage. This time, I wanted to see the ‘Show Bullets’ feature that this site’s reviews claimed was the “best of the best.”

Well, I am spellbound. Amazing output! Not only is the content summarized as bullet points, but the AI summarizer also puts some captions before each set of bullets, indicating the type of information to follow.

For instance, under the caption “Role Model and Personal Values,” the tool summarized the bullets that talked about Linda’s backstory, her life, and what motivated her to follow football. The tool has again left me satiated with the response.

Test 3:

For the third and final test, I tried something different. I picked up a piece of text that was written in a complex, jargon-filled language by the US government. The purpose of this test was to see if the tool swaps difficult words with easy-to-read ones, or not.

Not too impressed here. The Summarizer was supposed to make the text easily comprehensible by using simpler vocabulary. Instead, it mimicked words like ‘mandates in its output, failing the purpose of the test.

Remarks

Judging from the three tests I conducted and the overall vibe, the AI summarizer tool is good in its core functionality. It has an ample word limit in the free version and a relatively simple user interface for beginner/entry-level users.

However, I feel that the tool fails to satisfy the prefix of its name “AI.” There’s less functionality for expert-level users to customize their summaries using prompts. Plus, sometimes the tool doesn’t simplify the language enough, leading to ineffective short pieces.

With all that said, the AI Summarizer can be recommended for day-to-day tasks. The tool works very quickly and is often on point. Also, you can download the summaries as a Word file (Docx), allowing easy edits and updates to the content.

Summing It Up

The AI Summarizer is a free, user-friendly tool designed to help users condense lengthy texts into concise summaries.

While it effectively generates summaries for basic content, it lacks advanced customization options for expert users and sometimes fails to simplify complex language sufficiently.

However, its rapid performance and ability to provide downloadable summaries make it a practical choice for everyday tasks and users seeking efficient condensation of research material like books, articles, etc.

That’s all from our side! We hope you enjoyed reading our content!
